Confirmatory Rule Out Test

ShuntCheck Pediatric Outcomes Study (Madsen Neurosurgery 2020Frim Abstract, Boyle Abstract) showed:

  • Attending physicians were asking to rate each patient as “Unlikely to require surgery” or “Somewhat likely or Likely to require surgery” based on clinical signs and symptoms (before imaging results were available)
  • They rated 67% of patients as “Unlikely…”
  • That judgment was correct in 92% of cases
  • ShuntCheck “Flow Confirmed” was correct in 100% of cases
  • Imaging (CT Scan or MRI) “Normal” or “Decreased ventricle size” was correct in 96% of cases
  • ShuntCheck was statistically equal to Imaging as a confirmatory rule-out test
